Pallav Acharya is a licensed CPA in the state of Arizona and the owner of CPA Global Tax & Accounting PLLC in Scottsdale, AZ since 2006. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants and a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He was recently awarded a Chartered Global Management Accountant designation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He holds a Bachelor's Degree each in Accounting and Law from India and a postgraduate certificate in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird).
With office in Scottsdale, Arizona, Mr. Acharya and his firm provide tax and accounting services and specialize in international tax and business issues. For more than 15 years Mr. Acharya has been advising clients on cross border tax matters. He provides services to multinational clients engaged in US inbound or outbound activities. The services include planning, structuring, consulting, compliance and transfer pricing issues. He has worked extensively in the area of IRS overseas voluntary disclosure initiatives and helped clients comply with international tax requirements. Mr. Acharya was recently appointed as “Certified Acceptance Agent" for the Internal Revenue Service in order to assist clients in obtaining Income tax Identification Numbers (ITIN) expeditiously.
Mr. Acharya managed his own public accounting firm in India for twelve years where he specialized in advising clients in the fields of international business/finance, accounting, audit, and tax issues. He has wealth of experience in cross border tax planning and compliance issues related to outbound and inbound US businesses as well as non-resident and expatriate individuals. Clients include businesses and individuals having cross border activities in Canada, Mexico, Asia and Europe. Prior to working for a large CPA firm and a big 4 firm, Mr. Acharya gained Canadian tax and accounting expertise working for a public accounting firm in Canada.
Mr. Acharya served as a Faculty Associate at the W.P.CareySchool of Business at the ArizonaStateUniversity, Tempe, AZ and taught “Taxation for decision makers" to undergraduate accounting students. He has also taught international tax topics as a guest lecturer to the Master of Tax students at the Arizona State University.
Mr. Acharya served as the Chair of the International Issues Committee Task Force of the Arizona Society of CPAs from 2002 to 2004 and is currently a member of Tax Steering Committee of the Society. He is recently been appointed on the Board of Directors of Arizona Council for International Visitors - a World Affairs Council and Global Ties, Arizona. He is also on Working Board of MPEXA - Metro Phoenix Export Alliance. He regularly writes articles on international tax topics and speaks frequently on cross border tax issues. The notable presentations include “How to do business in Mexico" to Maricopa County Bar Association. His recent presentations focus on the unprecedented changes brought about by “Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act" enacted as part of HIRE Act, 2010. He is currently working on advising clients to efficiently plan and comply with the ever changing cross border tax regulations.
